How do I connect Google Search Console and Analytics, and what do I get?

Connect the Google account that owns the site. Research then starts from the searches you already get, and every page you mark live gets a scorecard from your own data.

Keyword tools estimate. Your Search Console measures. Connecting it does two things.

1. Research starts from what you already get

When you run research on a connected site, we pull the searches your site appeared for in the last 90 days, minus your brand terms, and feed them in as candidates with their real impressions, clicks and position. They show in the Keywords tab with the source Search Console, and their demand evidence says exactly what Google reported. Nothing is guessed about them.

2. Every page you mark live gets a scorecard

Open a page in your plan, set its status to Published and give the URL. From then on, each night we ask your Search Console what that page did: impressions, clicks, average position and the searches that reached it. If you also chose an Analytics property, the scorecard adds sessions and conversions for the landing page.

The card called What it has done since it went live shows:

  • Since it went live, refreshed daily.
  • First 30, 60 and 90 days, each written once that window has passed and never changed afterwards, so you can compare pages fairly.

The plan itself shows a one-line summary per live page. Search Console reports about two days behind, so a page marked live today shows figures from the day after tomorrow.

Connecting

  1. Open the site's Settings tab and, under Google Search Console and Analytics, press Connect Google.
  2. Sign in with the Google account that has access to the site's Search Console property and, if you want conversions, its Analytics property.
  3. Allow read-only access. We never write to your Google account.
  4. Back in Settings, check the property we matched. Domain properties look like sc-domain:example.com; URL properties look like https://example.com/. Pick the Analytics property if it was not matched.

Disconnecting and privacy

Disconnect Google in Settings removes the stored token. Measurements already taken stay on the pages they belong to. To remove the app's access at Google's end as well, open your Google account's third-party access page and remove Legiit Keywords. The token is stored encrypted and only the web app can read it; the research worker never sees it.
