What are writing rules?
Rules every draft for the site follows, added to the platform's own. Tone, spelling, words to avoid, things to always include.
Every draft is written under a set of platform writing rules: plain language, short sentences, no filler, no invented facts, a fixed structure. Writing rules on the site's Settings tab add your own on top, for every draft written for that site.
What to put there
- Tone: "warm and direct", "formal, no contractions".
- Spelling: British or American.
- Words or phrases to avoid, and ones to prefer.
- Facts to always include, such as a guarantee, a service area or a phone number.
- How to refer to the business, and how not to.
Keep it under a page. Rules are applied by the writer and checked afterwards; anything the checker cannot verify is left to you.
