How do I add my own customer language (Google Ads search terms, reviews, support chats)?
Upload a Google Ads search terms report, or reviews, chats and transcripts, from the site's Settings. The research quotes your customers word for word and treats their searches as real demand.
The research already listens to customers: it reads forum threads where people describe the problem your business solves and quotes them. Your own customers are a better source. Two kinds of file help.
A Google Ads search terms report
These are the exact searches people typed before clicking your ads, with impressions, clicks and conversions. They are real demand with money behind it, and keyword databases often miss them.
- In Google Ads open Campaigns, then Insights and reports, then Search terms. Set the date range to the last three to twelve months.
- Press Download and choose CSV. The title lines Google adds at the top are fine; we skip them.
- Open the site's Settings tab, find Your customers' words, choose Google Ads search terms (CSV), pick the file and press Upload.
Every search term from the file is kept as a candidate in the next research, whatever the databases say about it. In the Keywords tab it shows the source Google Ads, and its evidence chip says how many clicks and conversions it earned. Rows are merged by search term, so the same file can be uploaded again with a later date range.
Reviews, support conversations, call transcripts
- Export as a CSV with a column named Review, Text, Comment, Message, Transcript or Content, or as a plain text file with a blank line between entries.
- In Settings, under Your customers' words, choose Reviews, chats or transcripts and upload it.
The research reads these alongside the forum threads. When a customer describes a need in their own words, the phrases they use become keyword candidates and the sentence is stored as evidence, marked Your customers. A phrase is only kept when the quote exists in your file word for word; we never paraphrase a customer into a keyword.
Limits and privacy
Files up to 2 MB. We keep up to 500 search terms per file and 300 pieces of text, the longest first. Remove personal details before uploading: names, emails and order numbers are not useful to the research and we would rather not store them. Uploads belong to the site and are deleted with it, or from Settings at any time. They are used by every research run for the site from the moment they are uploaded.
