Where to get mentioned: AI Overviews, forums and best-of lists

For a growing share of searches, Google answers before anyone clicks. An AI Overview sits above the results and quotes a handful of sources. Forum threads and "best of" lists take many of the clicks that remain. Building a page is still right for those searches, but it is only half the job: the other half is being one of the sources those answers already use.

What the plan shows

• The Clicks verdict turns weak when an AI Overview is on the results page, and the plan row shows a small AI Overview marker.
• The page's Where to get mentioned card lists the sources Google already shows for the search, each with why it matters:
  • Cited by the AI Overview: the pages the AI answer quotes. Sources it already trusts get quoted again.
  • Forum thread: a Reddit, Quora or forum thread ranking in the top ten. Answers there are read by searchers and quoted by AI answers.
  • Best-of list: a "best X" roundup ranking for the search. Getting listed is a mention without building anything.

Every entry comes from the stored results page for that group, so it is what Google showed on the day of the run, not a guess.

What to do with them

1. Answer the thread. A useful, honest reply that mentions your page, from a real account, is read for years.
2. Ask to be listed. Best-of lists update. Write to the author with what your page or product adds.
3. Make your page citable. AI answers quote pages with clear, specific statements, figures and definitions. The brief for the page already asks for these; keep them near the top.
4. Watch the Clicks verdict on the next run. If the AI Overview starts citing you, the same search is worth more.

What we do not claim

We do not show an "AI rank". The same question asked of an AI assistant returns a different list of brands almost every time, so a single position means nothing. What we store is which sources the AI Overview cited on the day, which is stable enough to act on.
