Research and results
What is the Groups view?
Keywords whose top results overlap are one group, because one page can win them all. The Groups view shows each cluster with its need, demand, verdict and decision.
Search engines do not rank keywords, they rank pages. If two searches show mostly the same top results, one page can rank for both, so we treat them as one group. Groups are the unit the plan works in: one group, one decision.

What each group shows
- Name and need. A short label and one sentence on what the searcher wants to accomplish, in their words.
- Keywords. How many, and the total monthly demand.
- Verdict. Whether the current results serve that need well, partly, or leave a clear opening. Only inspected groups have one.
- Decision. Build, improve or skip, for inspected groups.
- Rank. The order groups were considered in, from demand tempered by difficulty, with places reserved for groups that came from real customer language.
Inspected and not inspected
A standard analysis inspects the top 12 groups; a deep one the top 30. Inspection is where the live results are fetched, the ranking pages read, and the decision made. Groups below the line are still listed with their keywords and volume, so a large site can see what a deeper run would cover.
Filtering keywords by group
Click a group to see its keywords in the table, or use the Group filter in the toolbar.
