How accurate are the search volumes and difficulty scores?

They are estimates from keyword databases, good for comparing keywords against each other, not a forecast of your traffic. Demand from real customer language is shown separately and honestly.

Volumes

Monthly volumes come from keyword databases built on Google Ads data and clickstream estimates. They are rounded, averaged over twelve months, and can miss long or new phrases entirely. Treat them as a ranking of keywords against each other: a 10,000 keyword is bigger than a 500 one, but neither is a promise of visits. The sparkline on the Keywords tab shows the twelve-month shape where the database has it.

Difficulty

Difficulty is the database's estimate of how strong the top ten is, 0 to 100, from the backlink profiles of the pages that rank. It is one input to reachability, not the decision. The Can you win it card explains the actual obstacle in words.

Unverified demand

Phrases that came from real customer discussions but have no recorded volume stay in the table marked unverified. They are not given a made-up number, and they are not thrown away. Several unverified phrases pointing at the same need is demand the databases cannot see.

What the plan uses

The plan ranks by the group's total demand, dampened by difficulty, with slots reserved for groups that came from customer language. Raw volume only decides which head terms get inspected first.
