Getting started

What happens during the twenty minutes?

Seven stages, each storing what it found: find keywords, keep the ones that fit, group them, read what ranks, check whether you can win, decide, brief.

The run page shows each stage as it happens, with the minutes left and a log of what was found. A standard analysis takes 15 to 25 minutes; a deep one up to 40.

The stages

  1. Find keywords. Keyword databases, what comparable sites rank for, and phrases from real customer discussions, all seeded from the profile's topics. Usually one to three thousand candidates.
  2. Keep the ones that could bring customers. Every candidate is judged against your profile. Kept keywords get a reason; dropped ones keep theirs too, so you can see why.
  3. Group by what Google shows. Keywords whose top results overlap are one group, because one page can win them all. Each group gets a name and the underlying need.
  4. Read the pages that rank. For each inspected group, the live results are fetched and the top pages are read in full: what each delivers and where it fails the searcher, with quotes.
  5. Check whether you can win. Your site's backlink strength against the domains already ranking, the keyword difficulty, and whether you already have a page for it.
  6. Decide. One decision per group: build, improve or skip, with the page type, what it must contain and the commercial reason.
  7. Brief. A brief for every page worth building.

While it runs

You can leave the page, close the browser, or work on another site. The site card and the sidebar show progress. When it finishes you get an email with a link to the plan.

If it stops

A run that fails keeps the stages that finished and returns your credits. Run Research Again resumes from the last completed stage. See My research run is stuck or failed.
