How long does writing a draft take, and can I leave?
Three to six minutes for most pages, longer for a 6,000-word piece. Leave the page; it refreshes itself and the draft is there when you come back.
A draft is written in one pass from the brief and the research, then checked and cleaned up. Expect:
- About 1,000 to 2,000 words: three to four minutes.
- About 3,000 words: five to six minutes.
- 4,000 to 6,000 words: up to ten.
The draft page refreshes itself every few seconds while writing is in progress and shows the finished page as soon as it is ready. You can close the tab, write another page for a different site, or start research elsewhere; only one draft per page is written at a time.
If it takes much longer
The provider that does the writing occasionally slows down for several minutes. The writer waits and retries on its own for up to about eight minutes before giving up. If a draft has shown as writing for more than fifteen minutes, or has failed, see My draft failed to write. Credits for a failed draft come back automatically.
