How do versions and editing work?
Every draft you write is kept as a numbered version. Edit any of them in place; your edits are stored separately and can be discarded to get the generated text back.
Versions
Each Write the Draft or Regenerate creates a new version, numbered from one. The draft page shows the latest by default; the Versions list at the bottom opens any earlier one. Nothing is overwritten.
Editing
- Press Edit on the version you want to change.
- The text opens in a Markdown editor. Headings start with hashes, lists with dashes; the preview shows the result.
- Save Edits. The word count updates and the page shows the edited text with an "edited" mark.
Your edits live beside the generated text, not on top of it. Discard edits on an edited version returns it to what was generated. Editing does not use credits.
Exports
Markdown and HTML exports use the edited text when there is one. See How do I export a draft?.
Which version to publish
Whichever reads best. Regenerating with instructions is often faster than editing a version that took the wrong angle; editing is faster for a version that is right apart from a few facts.
